GekeVenn: ENERGY TRANSFER (Dakota Access Pipeline)

in #corporatism9 years ago

Yesterday, a judge in North Dakota judge threw out the criminal charges against journalist Amy Goodman, who was facing jail time for reporting on protests of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The controversy over the proposed pipeline has intensified recently, and several activists and celebrities have been arrested. Native American activists and environmental groups are protesting the construction of the pipeline through ancestral lands of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Dakota Access is owned by Energy Transfer of Dallas, Texas. Today we highlight several Dakota Access lobbyists who have entered or exited through the government's revolving door.

It's all about economy vs. environment, at least here in Oklahoma. Otherwise, Big Brother tells the trees to be damned..

I would agree, but would clarify by saying it's all about big business vs. environment. The economy can be healthy and robust without subsidizing big business. And what I'm hoping people see is that government isn't worried about protecting the environment. Government is staffed by the people it regulates, so even laws that are touted as "environmental" are usually just ways for one corporation or sector to destroy its competition.
