Kerala, The Covid-19 curve is flattened : What next ?

So, the teeny-tiny Kerala in India has flattened the Covid-19 curve and had 4 deaths in 3 months from the patient zero on Jan 20th 2020.

For a state in so called "yet to be developed" country, Goa and Kerala states have done an outstanding job. The so called closer-to-success scenario is not the end game as after 3 months, some places which were green are turning red.

I think the biggest takeaway from this flattening or so called beating the curve is not really the lockdown but careful contact tracting. In the absense of established technological and legal means like Singapore and South Korea this was achieved via manual work. Every person aka "suspect" was traced by 2 departments and in some cases it seems Police too!

Changes

The weather is drastically changing from warm and humid summer to moist, monsoon magical season. The season is famous for not just the lush greenary and floods in last 2 years - but its an season of epidemics as well.

Close to 300K people are returning from Middle east and other countries as soon as the borders are opened. This is not including the people stuck in other neighbouring states.

The coming months will tell how the scanrio will play out. The rescilience shown by the goverment and the health department was commendable. Now with Monsoon, flu season and a possible 3rd consecutive flood, another 250K people in isolation and no funds how will things pan out ?

Sort:

also in Italy the curve of the virus infected is decreasing.

Which is such a good news!
