The South African oil company Sasol donated 5,000 liters of gel alcohol to the Ministry of Health of Mozambique as a way to collaborate in combating the spread of the covid pandemic - 19 in the country.
"Sasol is collaborating with the National Directorate of Public Health to ensure that this donation prioritizes the supply to hospitals and other essential service providers", reads a company press release distributed to the press.
In addition to the donation of hand sanitizers, according to the note, Sasol is preparing a donation of fuel for the supply of emergency vehicles, to be used to deliver medical equipment and supplies needed during this emergency period.
The handover ceremony for alcohol-based hand sanitizers took place today in Maputo, at the ministry's medicine warehouse. Between 2004 and 2018, Sasol, which exploits natural gas in the Pande and Temane, in the province of Inhambane, made a social investment of approximately 40 million dollars (36, 2 million euros) in Mozambique, according to the company.
With a total of 31 confirmed cases since 22 in March, Mozambique lives in a state of emergency due to the covid - 19 throughout the month of April, with schools, closed fun and leisure, prohibition of all types of events and agglomerations, in addition to suspension of visa issuance.
Globally, the covid pandemic - 19 has already caused more than 145 thousand deaths and infected more than 2 , 1 million people in 193 countries and territories. Over 465 1,000 patients were considered cured.
