Working from home is a new experience for many, and can be challenging. New ways of doing things can bring new issues, and remote workers suffer from a lack of communication that leads to antagonism. What what the major issues that can arise, and how do we begin to address them.

A major challenge in working from home is the missed spontaneous and social interaction between coworkers. When this aspect is removed, issues can arise. In order to address this, overcommunciate. This is new to many. Tell all your problems and issues in detail, and ensure that you are understood. Make sure your coworkers know it is nothing personal.

Another source of stress between coworkers when working from home is the added workload for parents and caretakers. Taking care of children is a full-time job in itself. Gove a wide berth to those who are facing stress from both work and home, and be open to flexible work schedules. A lot of work can be accomplished when the kids are asleep.

As a newly minted home office worker, your learning curve can be steep. Have empathy, and make sure you communicate any issues you may have as soon as they come up.
