Noam's a brilliant man in many ways, but that is an uncharacteristically stupid take. The vaccinated are a threat to the unvaccinated. Not just because it's not stopped from spreading, but COVID19 spreading among the vaccinated people who are going about their business as they did in 2019 gives it a great opportunity to evolve to better evade our immune systems.
That's not to say someone with an active respiratory infection shouldn't isolate themselves, with or without a confirmed COVID19 test. Vaccinated or not, putting yourself in social situations with viral symptoms has become intolerable.
I wonder if Chomsky is speaking from a personal bias of fear. He is old and frail, and while it sounds like he's vaccinated, his chances are not great if he came down with any serious respiratory infection.
