Is Ethereum a scam?

in #craigrant10 years ago

Were the Ethereum developers invested in the DAO? It is starting to come out that they were and hard folked to bail themselves out which is a conflict of interest and a lack of ethics.

Maybe Ethereum Classic is the community showing they don't like what they see.

IMHO people who say Ethereum Classic is a scam and Ethereum not have got it the wrong way around!

Please elaborate I'm interested in reading more!

If the DAO didn't have some big hitters invested who had influence with the Ethereum Foundation including members of the foundation themselves would the HF have been pushed through? Does this set a presidence, like paypal or ebay or a bank where an account or your crypto can be blacklisted as opposed to a truely decentralised freedom I thought crypto was.

I think you are right that people who say ETC is a scam is wrong.

Also I think you are spot on about the HF being pushed through because of the devs own investments.
At the same time I don't think there was any easy solution to the problem either.
I sympathise with both sides. People shouldn't be able to profit from theft which is what I believe the DAO hack was. Also people shouldn't have a HF forced on them.
The cognitive dissonance between the multiple opinions I'm trying to reconcile is making my head explode.

Ethereum is just another corporate shithole now.

I'd love to read how you arrived at that interesting conclusion.

A conflict of interest meant the people who made the decision to HF would have lost out financially if they hadn't. Basically it was a bailout of buddies who had not done due dilligence and invested in a crap product. If you remember, banks were bailed out by taxpayers for investing in subprime a while back.

I think that Etherum broke a trust . To save someone's ass and likely there own. I am looking forward to see where ETC goes .
