Golf is one of those games I'm horrible at in real life. Between playing baseball, soccer, and grades, I never had much of an opportunity to play golf.
The few times I did join a group of friends on the course, my baseball swing showed how little I knew about the mechanics of a golf swing. Back on the couch with a PlayStation, my golf skills were a whole different story.
Golf On The Blockchain By BLOCKLETE
This advertisement came through from the Brave Browser last night about a new golf game on the blockchain. I checked it out and wrote a post about my findings.
Concerns I had about not being able to buy a golfer with MetaMask proved to be untrue. I ended up using a credit card to make the purchase. So for $7.00 in fiat, I picked up my first NFT and didn't have to touch the ETH in my wallet.
Remember Crytokitties? How much will these golfers be worth when ETH decides to boom? My $7.00 is the most modest NFT that Blockletes offers too. You can spend much more money for a better skilled up golfer.
Meet Ardvarber!!
Each golfer has four different skill sets. As you can see, my golfer has a lot of practicing to do before he can play with the big boys! More expensive NFT golfers start with higher skill levels.
This is important when it comes time to compete. If you notice, my golfer's green energy bar is run down. I've been playing in a practice event that has real ETH rewards!
When your skill levels are low like mine are, it makes it much tougher to guide the golf ball. I don't think I'll be winning many medals this first round.
Skill Improvement
Like Cryptokitties, each golfer is a non fungible token (NFT) existing on the Ethereum blockchain. Another similarity to those crazy kitties is the ability to add value to your golfer NFT.
Owners can do this by participating in events like the one I'm playing in. Each round you play in an event costs energy. Your golfer's energy is free, but takes time to rebuild once you use a portion for game play.
Game Play
I can't tell you how an actual round of tournament golf plays out. Game play seems up to par with most mobile golf games I've come across. Players have different clubs to choose from, each rated with a distance.
Players can position their shot from Top View, then return to ground view to take their swing. Tapping the ball initiates a double sequence of timed events to achieve a successful stroke.
First, a horizontal power bar slides right and left. This one is relatively easy to stop where you want it. The bigger question is knowing how much power to deliver for the right results.
Right after you stop the power bar, an accuracy arrow appears. This arrow also swings back and forth. Trying to stop it in the perfect middle is much tougher than stopping the power bar. And if you don't have a high skill level, you need to stop these timed events perfectly.
Win ETH If You Rank Well In Events
First place in the practice tournament I'm playing in is .09 ETH. There are smaller payouts for the top 50 as well. So on top of your NFT gaining value from Hodling, you can also win ETH prizes!
Don't forget about your skills either. If you win or place well in tournaments, you'll get medals to power up your golfers skills. Another factor that adds ETH value to your NFT player.

I may have to check this out. Sounds like it might be fun and maybe profitable.

It has been fun trying to get better with a low skilled golfer. Hopefully, I win some medals so I can power him up. The real crypto prizes in ETH make the game even more fun. Then there's the possibility the NFT will gain value on top of prizes.

I read your earlier post and gave it a try. I was having a heck of a time hitting the targets offered on the practice range. The only one I hit was a bad slice that ended up in a target I wasn't aiming at. lol. May give it another try and see if I can improve a bit. :)

Nice. I noticed the arrow doesn't move so fast when I lower the shot difficulty. Go shorter and don't swing full power.

Thanks for the advice. I've played several virtual golf games over the years and it always takes me some practice to get the swing rhythm down. Some learning curves were shorter than others. :)

Some of those old games seemed to cheat me out of perfect shots too. Hope this one is developed to avoid such a type of gameplay.

Guess who is getting out his debit card right now? 💳

Sweet! I was bummed I couldn't use MetaMask mobile but then I realized I could just use a card. Better yet! Why waste crypto?
If we get enough players, we could start our own tournament......
