Security of women in india

in #crime6 years ago

This was a topic very close to my heart and i always wanted to write.

images (2).jpegAs per statistics 1 in every 3 women in india faces violence/ threat/ sexual harassment or similar problems in india. I was surprised to know that the rapists of nirbhaya feel that it was girls fault that she got raped because she was out of her house at 2100hrs in night not even thinking once she could have been his own daughter mother wife or sister.

Problem is at the root level. by roots i dont mean general public but by the thinking. It is this thinking that may travel from an aam aadmi or a minister. Ours is a country where a culprit minister can commit any crime and get away with it after paying some ransom or warning to family of the victim. Victim is forced to keep quite. This reminds me of saying that ours is a country where a porn star is celebrity and a rape victim has to hide her face and she is socially disgraced.

Coming to the point if we have to tackle this problem we have to address root. Yes friends you got it right we need to change our mental set up. And you know changing mental set up is a big thing we have to change the way we men look at a girl. We have to stop objectifying her. She has to be given equal respect and power. We educated youth should preach to old and young family members the quality of accepting girls and giving them dues. We have to stop thinking that girls are a burden to family who will fly away one day after marriage.

For addressing root cause it has to start from our houses, schools and most importantly jails where all those criminals are lurking and hiding comfortably and feeding on government rations. We have to stop feeding those culprits and they have to be given due punishment in time bound and stringent manners.

Friends please post your opinion and more ideas how to improve women security in our country.
