Morelia, Michoacàn Mexico part 1

in #cross-post3 years ago

So I finally got to this beautiful city called Morelia, the capital of the state of Michoacàn, Mexico. The bus took four hours from Mexico City through the beautiful Sierras with little lakes everywhere.

Passing by lovely little villages and a greenery I'd rarely ever seen before😍

We finally neared Morelia in a misty sun setting rain almost as if Heaven was opening up and letting us in.

We rolled in line with a load of other cars and buses heading into town with us turning off into the North bus depot. A fatigue of the four hour ride mixed with the excitement of staying in what looked to be quite a large but beautiful mountain city. I'd had a nice trip and would be sad to say good-bye to my new Mexican friend Thomas that I'd had the pleasure of chatting with on the way. His English was quite good as he'd worked in the states for years. Much better than my broken Spanish lol. So we said our farewells as he would soon be heading back home to Vera Cruz. I had a bite before tugging my tons of luggage out into the rain to find a taxi to the hotel right across the road.

The next day I walked around the neighborhood staking out some nice food and getting familiar with the North-West side of Morelia.

I only stayed there for two nights as I'd found a nice little hotel near the city center in a colonias (neighborhood) called Juarez. Where I stayed for nearly two weeks while I desperately searched a monthly room rental. Not easy when you're not rich and no longer a student.

This looked to be quite a nice neighborhood very near El Mercado Independencia (Independant Market) where I often went but as they were working on the road, I dubbed it Avenue Indiana Jones as you had to literally cross holes on boards on one side making me think of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when he has to cross through many booby traps in order to get to the Holy Graal (this Holy Graal was an ATM 🤣).

After two long weeks and many scheduled visits that never took place as they'd watch from nearby to see what I looked like then not answer the door or they'd not answer my messages. One even refused me after he'd accepted the previous day, making me wait outside his home for three hours with my luggage😥 I finally found a room in a house for Señoritas which is not a brothel lol, thus I finally got out of the hotel. My newly found home was in Colonias Morelos near a long but tiny river along Avenue Solidaridad, next to two crossing autoroutes of which one goes all the way through Centro Historico.

I took the initiative to walk downtown from my neighborhood. And puff puff puff 45 minutes later I arrive to this!😍 What do ya think @traciyork and @lovesniper ?

...to be continued😉
