This is our first thread, and we have the pleasure to announce great news - The Crowdmind project has officially started. The story behind it is very turbulent and interesting. But before we go to the details, here are some important facts about us:
This project involves many people, but it will be officially represented by two Steemians that some of you probably know.
@hidden84 - Active crowdsourcing researcher, director of project development in Headmade agency specialized for market communications. Besides working on projects for different clients and industries, he is finishing his Ph.D. thesis about crowdsourcing and blockchain application in urban planning participatory processes. His primary role is defining the project strategy and all tactical steps that will help us to achieve the projected goals.
@svemirac - Astrophysicist with a keen eye for community needs (not only stars). He is the person behind our official witness - crowdwitness, and he also plays important role in all other activities. He did a great job in describing our motivation in his witness thread:
We are on Steemit since the end of 2017. Up to this point, we have been actively engaging in numerous projects and communities, which gave us an insight into the key potential of this platform. It is something that Steemit has recognized and plans to do with Hivemind, basically, our goal is to support all projects and authors who will empower the wisdom of the crowd.
But this is only top of the iceberg. We strongly believe that Steemit has incredible potential to connect the offline and online space. In our whitepaper, we stated something that could look obvious, but we believe it is very important to always have it on mind:
Today, it's very difficult to determine the boundary between the online and offline space. We can say that online space is a natural extension of our living environment, while any decision in offline regime can get its online reflection and vice versa.
And imagine what Steem can do about this.
With Steem based platforms, what we earlier knew as tools available to the crowd, now becomes the natural ability of the crowd, unrestricted by rules of the middleman. However, participation itself cannot be a guarantee of value creation. This is precisely why the crowdsourcing activities must be encouraged and supported by helping the users to liberate full potentials and reach not only individual results, but also the results which will benefit their organizations, communities, and even society as a whole.

During the period: winter 2017 - spring 2018 the whole platform was oriented towards the idea that every user is a producer, so it was needed to make some sort of equality distribution.

I think your thinking is entirely correct @alexs1320. Once the reward pool is distributed equally no matter the time invested into content creation and quality, it quickly becomes demoralizing for good content creators.
But at the same time your suggestion, which I agree with, would possibly reduce the number of people who use this platform. I read your whitepaper and I think in reality on Steemit there are almost no content consumers, because it is not a content consumation platform just yet. People come to Steemit to make money. If no money is earned by a person, even if their input time is small, the person will leave.
I am thinking how we could retain more users while at the same time promoting good content more, but I cant come up with an idea.
Finally someone rational... Steemit is way too "anarcho-socialistic" place
Well, this is a problem of the way how Steemit was advertised: come here, earn money.
On the other hand, come to Facebook and connect with all your friends - for free.
Join Instagram and enjoy in mountains, girls, girls climbing mountains :D - for free!!!
This is why I think that we need to create something that is useful for people, rather in calling them to earn *(virtual money)
And that was precisely my point. If you advertise the money aspect too much, user retention is low and people just come and go. I think an interesting way in combating this would be to hide the rewards on posts. Maybe people would be satisfied with their "shit posts" that earn them 0.3 $ if they dont know that other people earn 100 $ on their shit posts just because they self-vote into oblivion and because they are whales.
P.S. I forgot to mention. STEEM must offer something to the everyday user besides money, as you suggest. That is why I like this @Crowdmind intiative. I think it is a good and easy way to onboard ordinary people into the cryptoworld and STEEM.
The blinding of the rewards to other users is an intriguing one, although I figure screen shots, authentic and otherwise, will complicate the efficacy of that potential change.
So many foundations are being laid by projects like @crowdmind so that as blockchain technology continues adoption, the integration of other useful projects will lead non-blogging consumers into the space from respective communities of the "offline world". The initial growth has provided opportunity for the novice and the cross-platform pro creators to see potential, and I think both have the capacity to bring in others users. Other platforms' blantant censorship is receiving attention from a rapidly-diversifying set of interest groups and society is strengthening their cries for transparency in our transactions.
Hey people, thank you for participating in this thread. You all made our first day great. This is @hidden84, and I will write through the official account – but I am sure that all other people in the project will agree with this.
@maticpecovnik This thing about content consumers category on Steemit is very interesting. In the first place, this category is very flexible, we all take multiple roles while we are here. I completely agree that we all are here to earn something – but if we look at this type of outcome as satisfaction we can find an analogy in other social networks. For example, there was one research article (and unfortunately I can’t remember where I had read it) which stated that the most active Facebook (pages) authors are the ones who are most recognized outside their primary community, made of offline friends. Off course – this seems obvious, but all I want to say is that the only difference with Steemit is the hierarchy of satisfaction types. While I can earn on Facebook as page admin (If some brand recognizes me for example), on Steemit almost everyone can get the rewards. And money is the strongest catalyst for content creation. I did some research a few months ago and wanted to check if Steemit is able to break the internet rule of 1% (the whole summary is stated in whitepaper). My results were negative, but I found that 10% of users (creators+evaluators+consumers) are much more active then on traditional platforms. And yes – this totally confirms your statement about the fact that we don’t have solo consumers here.
And about attracting more users while at the same time promoting good content – I believe Hivemind would do a big step towards this. @ alexs1320 also has one great rule in his curation – is this content good enough for the first page on google? I think the final solution is a combination of multiple good ones.
