Mark Carney is an econom from Canada and also a Governor of the Bank of England. He has expressed his opinion about the crypto currency in a speech given at the High Level Growth Meeting of Canadian Public Policy in Toronto.
He stated that while some parties forbid the use of cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency is not something that poses a risk to the world's economic system as it is today; as quoted by The Star.
Mark Carney has become an important economist and has held relevant roles in several banks: He serves as Bank of Canada Governor, and Governor of the Bank of England; he became the youngest economist to reach the post. his position is very important because his view represents the economist's general view of cryptocurrency
However, Mark Carney says there must be future rules, as he acknowledges that even if the cryptocurrency market is still small compared to other markets, it is an innovative new form of trading and making payments and it should not be ignored.
He must also criticize the existence of exchanges that trade money for cryptocurrency and also insinuate about security issues and question the legality of the matter, he states:
There is this exchange where you transfer your Canadian dollars to cryptocurrency and people are generally unregulated and in some cases, there is a lot of serious harassment or at least, they are very porous against cyber attacks and thefts and they do not meet the standard "
As he closes his speech, he asks for more moni- toring of crypto assets. Opinions about his stand on cryptocurrency can be subject to change, but he is at least a consistent person in that regard. He took the same posture and gave almost the same opinion in the G20 economic summit, calling for adjustments to the actual rules to address the cryptocurrency problem, and to ignore the more energetic step in that direction.
