Are we going to see EthereumPOW and EthereumOriginal forks? Look at what happened to the Monero fork. Maybe the miners will just switch to ETC?
The most profitable GPU mining now is with the Neoscrypt algorithm. During the run up not only could you mine a lot of coins, but the price of these coins was mooning. Most of these were crap masternode coins, which have all cratered, but it's still profitable to mine them and immediately sell them for BTC.
There is Zcash, Bitcoin Private, ETC, Verge, Bitcoin Gold or just sell you gpu power to nicehash. Plenty Of Alt
It seems like POS is all the rage now. I'm interested to see how all of this plays out in the long term. The ability to throttle inflation, deflation, and consolidation is an ongoing challenge that can destroy a system if it gets out of whack. POS looks to make positive movements with mitigating some of these issues, but only time will tell. As we know from all of history, if the system can be games, it will be.
