To be fair, JPMC didn't need the bailout. They "had to" take the money.
They were also among the first to return it, if memory serves.
I like JD a lot. He is an intelligent man (after all, he turned down several government jobs). And I agree with you that he isn't stupid. His words were well calculated.
I think this is an attempt to "join em" as they slowly realize they can't "beat em". I'm sure someone, somewhere in JPMC is about to be make some large purchases for the company.
But no one pays me to think lol
