What do sandals have to do with trading crypto?

Just curious - if you were attending a presentation or seminar on trading crypto, would you ever expect the speaker to show you a photo of sandals? The answer is probably "no," right? So you can imagine how surprised I was to be reading about the London Cryptocurrency Show on Steemit and then stumble across a photo of a guy giving a talk about trading crypto while showing a picture of a woman's sandal! (A big hat tip to fellow Steemian @howo for pointing this out in his recent blog post about the London Cryptocurrency Show - just skip forward to the "Saturday" section)

And here's the thing - it wasn't a photo of a high-fashion sandal or a cool beach sandal. To me, it looked like what people in the U.S. would call a "wedge." And it was beige!

Which leads to the following question: What in the world do sandals have to do with trading crypto?

Sandals and crypto

Hypothesis #1: Sandals are a type of universal footwear that has existed since biblical times. Every culture, every society has worn sandals. So maybe the presenter was making the point that crypto trading is universal and timeless?

Hypothesis #2: The beige sandal that was shown at the event looked practical and comfortable. So maybe the presenter was making the point that crypto trading is no longer exotic -- it's the equivalent of a boring, beige sandal?

Hypothesis #3: The speaker was just trying to keep his audience awake and was trying to come up with some unique analogy that would make him sound really smart. If you check out the sandal photo from @howo, it looks like half the audience was falling asleep. So maybe the speaker whipped out a sandal photo to regain their interest?

I dunno. If it were me, I probably would have chosen a completely different photo - like a photo of someone wearing sandals at a beach or some exotic tropical destination, as a symbol of how trading crypto can help to make all your dreams come true:

But I definitely, 100% would not have picked a photo of a beige wedge sandal. Maybe that's just me.

So what do you think: What do sandals have to do with trading crypto?
