October, going to see an Australian band who recently signed with Nuclear Blast records, Reliqa - they're a female fronted band that sounds a bit like Nine Inch Nails, and a bit like Goth Metal. This one, my friend suggested, as tickets were only $30, and they're an Aussie outfit.
So I am going a bit out of my comfort zone on that one. They're pretty good, but not the best music I've ever heard.
Then in Jan, my best friend wanted to go see The Last Dinner Party. I've only started listening to their music in the past week, and I think they're incredible in their use of structure, harmony, and the way they use a few tempo / key changes in unexpected ways.
Finally, in Feb, Lacuna Coil - I listened to these guys to absolute death in my youth, and never thought I'd get the chance to see them live. Problem is it's been something like ten years since I listened to any of their new work, so I might have some surprises (or sadness) to contend with there, as recent set lists don't really capture what I remember of them.
I think that if / when I do land a full time gig - it will be nice to have a tiny bit of a pressure cooker - it will allow me to be more intentional with my focus.
Photography, Writing, Art, Going to Concerts, Staying Strong (in a physical sense - through weight training).
And yes, absolutely, things are going well for me. I drop off some art work for the local history symposium next Thursday, then on the day I go collect that, in the same exhibition space, drop off another piece for a 2 week arts festival in the local area.
