Today, March 27th 2019, Ross Ulbricht is celebrating his 35th birthday in federal prison. I'm sure some of you have heard of Ross and his story... Ross was the founder/creator of a website called the "Silk Road." The Silk Road was one of, if not the first online marketplace using bitcoin as the medium of exchange. But more importantly, Ross is a peaceful man sentenced to double life + 40 years in prison. Ross has been sentenced to die in prison for building a free open marketplace on the web where some users were selling cannabis or other illicit drugs. Sure, Ross broke some laws, whether they are just laws or not is up for debate... but double life + 40 years really??
THIS IS FUCKIN BULLSHIT!!
Please pardon my expletive outburst, but Ross's situation really gets my blood boiling. Not just Ross's situation but the fact that we in the USA, the land of the free, have the biggest prison population in the world. We lock up so many people for nonviolent drug charges it's pure insanity. And giving Ross two double life sentences plus 40 years for starting a website?
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME WHY DO WE ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN?
Ross was one of the early pioneers in the bitcoin space. The draconian sentence he was given shows how those in the government who locked him up feel about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. If you support the philosophical idea of bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies increasing freedom for humanity like Ross did, you need to support Ross. Ross and his family need our help.
How to help:
First, if you haven't already, you need to educate yourself on the targeting and caging of Ross Ulbricht. To do this, I recommend watching the video series, reading, or listening to the podcast episodes of "Railroaded." Railroaded is based on public information sources, including court filings, transcripts, trial exhibits, affidavits, warrant applications, subpoenas, judicial rulings, investigation reports, press releases, sworn testimony and direct evidence from Ross's case.
