I read a post yesterday and this post was written by a big stakeholder on Hive, I must say I loved the post, it talked about why Hive is still one of of the best chain out there, and reasons for his enthusiasm, but I checked the comment section and it was full of doom and gloom, I get it.
I mean we only got a bull run for alt season and only God knows when we're ever going to get an alt season. The comment section were filled with folks who were panicking and saddened by everything that was happening.
This disappointment correlates with everything currently happening in web3. I was going to terminate the partnership I had with the lady I'm working with because I felt she's currently mentally unstable, greedy and insatiable, insulting and condescending behavior and today was a proof of that.
We did a marketing campaign for a new layer 2 blockchain and we were ineligible for rewards despite the hardwork we put in, (hardwork was mostly me) and she said a whole lot of terrible things to me because of this ineligiblity.
On one hand she shouldn't have said those things, and those were one of the reasons I wanted to quit it all in less than a week time, but on second thought, the project lied, duped people, took their money even though they claim they raised $10M. It's a hellhole out there.
A project called ZAMA a privacy blockchain claimed they raised $138M conducted a presale at 500M FDV and launched at 300M FDV, leaving presales at huge loss. People think Hive is bad, until they taste the wild West.
It's horrible out here especially in 2026. A lot of layer 2 and layer one blockchain are building for TGE, and nothing else. 2026 might be a very dark year for crypto and if you've got any liquidity, then you should protect it.
Hive is a huge safe haven: no founders, scam team or centralized. We have the potential to scale, the only problem I see is top 20 witnesses who probably don't care.
The process which makes them decisions makers should be reviewed, tweaked and probably we can have more people who understand how it should works and tries so hard to fix it. Probably fix the DHF and another good fork. At this point it's all tiring, and I hope we can really wake up and do the right thing.
It's the wild West
In this game of crypto, I've experienced racism, bigotry, discrimination and so many things. Hive is proudly the only chain where you can never find any of these issues, which means we have the chance to sell our chain out there.
The money on the race car is pure wastage, there are ways to run campaigns to bring Hive to folks who truly need the tech. We can also try to be more interopable with other chains and network and truly sell our tech out there.
I've personally done and seen a lot of marketing campaign and strategy and will be glad to run a few for Hive, unfortunately I don't even know who to pitch the campaign to, and seriously Hive witnesses seriously needs to do better.
It's a long year a head and after I quit this toxic give, I'd like to take some time to brainstorm and think about my next move. How about you, would you like to see Hive in a better place?
if you have marketing ideas or want to get involved, the best person to talk to for this would be @crimsonclad... you can find her on hive discord too
the dhf needs a rework, it's throwing too much money away, projects should self sustain after a while
If we spend 20% on that DHF money on proper campaigns, they'll yield better results.
The car rally idea made no sense no me, that wasn't proper marketing, first off, stop it from bleeding, fix up a few things with another hard fork, and we're back up again, because we're better than 90% of L1s and even layer zero out there.
not only the rally car, there were (or was?) also bike race(s?)...
We would all love to see Hive in a better place, but the wasteful DHF spending and inflation are killing the it slowly. I agree on witness selection, it needs to be tweaked quite a bit.
I'm always brainstorming personally, and I'm not sure where in crypto things are going to do well this year. I wish I were younger with more energy as there are a couple of ideas I might pursue, but they would require 60 to 70 hour weeks in the first couple of years. That's not going to happen! lol
I wish I was healthier myself, my blood pressure is all over the place and I just recover from an infection that left me unable to do much for two weeks.
It's been absolutely disappointing cycle for altcoins, BTC couldn't even do a x3 from its previous ATH, and it just feels like this cycle is broken or the 4 years window is over..
I put my health on the line everyday and that's because bills has to be paid and no other choice
The frustration is very understandable. That partnership situation is a series thing and yeah crypto is a disaster right now. The witness critique is something I'm still thinking about especially when you're out there grinding and seeing the potential just sit there unused. I only choose to see it from a project advantage perspective and the fact that long term stay on Hive as proven very valuable for many so I'm motivated
Crypto is the wild west out here, but I think the DHF is probably the biggest issue. I am going to stay on Hive for as long as possible, so I hope it recovers.
