How to find the best crypto?

Best crypto as in the crypto that smokes everything else in the long run. It's that freaking competitive. Cutting edge tech and community. Ultimate value. There could really be no second best in the long run, given that crypto is the space where the winner-take-all effect could be most potent. The purposefully-designed dominant crypto could eat most of the cake, yes yes? That would mean 99.99% of cryptos could fail, but that wouldn't be a surprise.

Even if such extremes might not happen, we still gotta recognize that power law is a thing amirite?

So which crypto exactly could be the winner?

To begin our search, obviously we'd need to use Bitcoin as the anchor. It's possible that it's already and will always be the best crypto. It's entirely possible that the first crypto is already the forever winner, but why not assume the possibility that it can be bested just like any technology and make a hedge? Optionality for the win. Diversify. Never bet against human ingenuity.

So the first thing we did in our search to find the best many years ago was study them all (L1s, L0s) as much as we can and mentally rate them according to some assumed level playing field, imagined scenarios, which we think are key to figuring out what's what. Here's four that we identified almost completely randomly while taking dumps in the toilet:-

  1. Assume the whitepaper and code came out at the same time as Bitcoin's and everyone has time to think about everything. Will the larger community back then favor this crypto or Bitcoin as the first (and last) to launch?

  2. Assume the crypto is already in action today and the marketcap is at 1%/10%/100% of Bitcoin's. Will the larger community favor this crypto as Bitcoin's champion, the worthy successor?

  3. If you're forced to put 100% of your capital into this crypto vs Bitcoin for the next 1000 years, which will you choose? Assume you're given enough capital for daily spendings etc until then.

  4. Is your highest rated crypto the same in (1)(2)(3)? If yes, do you think the Bitcoin community will update its software to compete (maybe even copy) with this crypto that you rated highest, even if it means a radical change to the software and functioning of it?

Of course this is all very loosely worded. There are more steps buried in our notes. We didn't come up with any exact systematic way of scoring stuff as we're not professionals obviously. But anything that feels overwhelmingly positive vs everything else is a good sign for us that someone cracked a big big nut, which is why it was important for us to intuit through all the notable cryptos. Hence our eyebags.

We did indeed find a very overwhelming signal back in late 2017 (more like it fell onto our lap). Nothing else ever since.

But barely anyone seems to be on it. Is it a false signal? The super secret AI in our brain detected this as well though, amongst other potential signals.

Anyways, we'll leave it up to you dear reader if you wanna incorporate this comprehensive 4 step process into your hunt. Let us know what you find. This is just part 1 of our 999 patented and unproven crypto hunting methodology series, so stay tuned to TOPCAP radio. Good luck and have fun!

If I had money, I would definitely put it into bitcoin.

Just being able to save again (thanks to bitcoin) would already be enough for me - the enormous mathematical upwards potential is a nice side effect.

Currently struggling to survive and on the brink to becoming homeless again (not as bad as the last time, at the beginning of corona, permanent pain, also still had cramps back then - had to power down from dolphin)

Let's see how long I can stay dolphin this time and at which point I have to power down to sell my Hive and save my ass..

greets :)

1000 years ago the money had a much different shape than now even if they had laready started to fake it with arbitrary content of precious metals.

In 1000 years I think cryptos will be far far passed away.

BUT, If I have to choose a crypto for the long term, I would choose Ethereum. IF (IF), Ethereum is going back to decentralize its voting power I see a very bright future for it

Three of the four items listed here originate from the need of an community. I think adoption and strength of the community is crucial of for a crypto project to succeed long term l.
