I could remember queueing in the banking hall, sweating and enduring the wait. Even after I had waited an extra day to receive Dad's transaction, I still had to go through the long lines waiting to get my hand on the cash so as to treat my empty stomach to a plate of African Jollof and chicken.
College was tedious, I had to rely on alert messages from banks before I could eat atimes. The annoying part was always the delivering time of the cash and the extra waiting at the bank to get the money. It was so stressful that I would always need to endure Mr. Audu's caning for missing dorm activities because I was at the bank.
Fast forward few years, with the arrival of the Blockchain Technology, combined with the many other digital transactions replacing these old rigid ways, I can only reminisce on the good old days leaving me to appreciate how much technology has intervened in our lives.
I can now make orders online, card and cardless withdrawal, wire money to kilometers away in a space of minutes. With cryptocurrencies, which are already taking the stage, I can now make transfers in seconds, request and receive withdrawal within few hours or minutes at times. The digital economy has engulfed our day-to-day transactions so much that we can't do without it.
The Blockchain technology, which is fast growing and taking the center stage unlike the older digital fintech seems a bit complex and requires a little knowledge of tech to get your way around it. I had to push myself to learn how it really works and to ensure I engaged in safe and trustworthy transactions. I wish it was as easy as the old ways that only required me to queue or the more recent technology of e-commerce and e-business.
To purchase cryptocurrency with FIAT, you have to trade trust while performing the transactions.
