Cryptocurrency overtaking gold and/or fiat currency is like akin to an undefeated team losing a game. Because it’s never been done people think it’s impossible. Some others however think that since it’s never been done it’s a great opportunity and sooner or later it will be done. Once it’s proven that it is possible then it will be an opening of the floodgates.
If people say that gold will be the most trusted source of value for the perceivable future it is difficult to tell them they are wrong. They are wisely looking at thousands and thousands of years of data which prove their point.
However, if people say that inevitably gold will be replaced as value storage, or fiat currencies such as the American dollars will be replaced by cryptocurrency they are not wrong either. There is a very valid case to be made for that and with many coins valued currently at less than half of their ATH is it is a perfect time to get in now. (As a believer, user, or investor)
If you don’t believe it’ll happen (mass adoption of crypto) there’s no point in ever getting in. If you believe it’s going to happen the best time to get involved in the cryptosphere is ASAP.
Like anything that’s done before, wise naysayers have the benefit of history, but the wisest people of all know that they have the benefit of the future.

I think cryptocurrencies will not replace gold, as gold will always have value. But I think it will replace fiat currency, as we are getting at the end of the current system based on debt. There will have to be some kind of reset or crisis from where we can adopt a different kind of system.
