It's quite rare to see people at the moment who are quite as dedicated, ambitious, and enthusiastic for innovation as Dorsey. There was a huge number of questions regarding twitter making its own crypto currency like Libra and comments from Bitcoin core developers who were interested to see what it would take to make Bitcoin's scripting language independent of Bitcoin's underlying data and how to make it more scalable.
Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey stated that there are no plans for a platform-specific “Twitcoin” cryptocurrency, noting that he will instead focus on promoting Bitcoin (BTC).
Dorsey don't expect to see another technology like Bitcoin succeed in the same form in the long time coming. The world has a finite supply of Bitcoins, and with each new year comes new people and business wanting to use it, Dorsey praised the first cryptocurrency:
“I think open internet standards serve every person better than ones controlled or started by companies.”
“I think [Bitcoin's] the best bet because it's been the most resilient, it's around for 10 years, it has a great brand and it's been tested a bunch. [...] As I look at all cryptocurrencies that could fill that role of being the native currency for the internet, [Bitcoin is] a pretty high probability.”
However, I do think the value of Bitcoin today, as compared to other digital currencies, seems to have more in common with gold than others. This is primarily due to a combination of a) rising demand from retailers; b) the fact that Bitcoin is easier to convert into real currency by retailers; c) the increased level of maturity in the software and services supporting this new system; and d) the fact that the number of people, businesses and institutions who understand and are willing to invest in Bitcoin is on the rise worldwide.
