Only in a sense that bitcoin brings new investors to the crypto market. Most investors don't find out about alt coins until after first learning and investing in bitcoin. The fluctuations when bitcoin surges and alts drop are just day traders trying to make more profit. Many of whom actually lose trying to time the market.
