Why we think cryptocurrency is just getting started!

Do you really think Crypto space could one day turn into a trillion dollar market? This is probably one of the most lingering questions in the space.

We will answer this question using our own basis (since an official survey is not feasible with our time or budget). Please feel free to comment your views as well.

Premise 1: There are close to 24 million wallets out there. Let’s for the purpose of this article assume all to be bitcoin wallets and that everyone who owns any sort of alt-wallet would have a Bitcoin wallet. We all know that most individuals may own multiple wallets, some may have lost access to few wallets and so on. But still, let’s take all of 24 million wallets as the base for crypto-user numbers.

Premise 2: Now, we cannot simply use this number against the global population to assess the potential, that would be wrong. So, let’s break down the 7.6 billion population.

About 25% of world population is under age 14, so for the purpose of this analysis, let’s take them out.

World bank estimates about 2 billion adults people are unbanked.

So these two groups are out.

Assuming that the majority of older folks and individuals from third world countries (and people with not enough resources) who will not embrace crypto-currencies are covered under the same group of unbanked people, however, for the purpose creating a cushion for people who will resist this technology, let’s add another 20% of world population out of our count.

That leaves us with a potential 2.1 billion people that could one day participate in this revolution one way or another. But in order to make this ultra conservative, let’s add the same % of people that have access to internet in the world to our filtered number, which is 51%

This brings our super conservative number of 2.1 billion potential crypto users down to: 1.02 billion.

So, we have arrived at at the potential near future customer base for cryptocurrency, albeit with lot of assumptions.

In summary, we have arrived at the following statistics:

Approximate current wallet users: 24 million
Approximate global potential future crypto adopters 1.02 billion
Current percentage of people that have already part of crypto revolution are against future potential: 0.2% That is 2/10th of 1 percent of potential crypto adopters are currently invested in crypto space

Let’s say, 1% of the total conservative potential investors start participating. That means, 5 times growth to existing market cap to 2 trillion!

1% participation from an ultra filtered crypto-potential customer base will put this market at 2 TRILLION.

We believe it will MUCH bigger when market offers new ways for 'traditional' investors to diversify into crypto space. Crypto has a great potential, but this is only true for the quality projects with a use case and great teams.
