Why does anyone care about a Blockchain?

I just got asked this! I said there are 4 billion under banked humans on the planet due to incumbent, too big to fail banks and financial systems developed mostly in the 1950s, it is a shame Digital currency exchanges could be the new Wall street/LSE, yet adoption barriers are rife for beginners. Making financial products such as digital securities or utility tokens available for speculation to the entire human race is a big part of what block chain has going for it in terms of MTWABP use cases (Make The World A Better Place) but it is dependent on preceding technological innovations like open source and the more obviously the internet itself, which is why we couldn't do this in the middle ages and why we have had a central clearing house or bank as the dominant business model for 5000 years. Bitcoin was the worlds first bank without branches or employees, a decentralised clearing house, or value storage facility like the bank was and in a more prototypical sense, metal coins. I want to be involved in the creation of a world of "what can we get" from the decaying rubble of our inherited world of "what can I get". Makes more sense for the super organism called the human race as operational philosophy, than the former. Also technology like block chain has enabled the human race to dream of leaving behind the selfish economic assumptions of the Keynesian economic philosophy and it's succeeding derivative Reaganomics/Thatcherism "trickle down" economic philosophies that dominated the end of the 20th century. Despite us having a global world wide securities derivative debt market of 250,000 trillion dollars, the birth of crypto currency marks the end of a 5000 year era of governments and banks being able to "keep printing a bad idea", not in a block chain world. So I am very excited about this potential future! Decentralised autonomous Co operative involvement is something I actively seek. There's only about 250ish million people in the space globally so it is great when I get to rant about it as I don't have many people to talk to in daily life, thank you Steemians. Happy festive season and new year wishes from the UK!
