Most of the responses I get are low-quality low-effort comments. 'Thanks for writing', 'beautiful post', etc. I can't tell if the reader actually read the article or is simply fishing for upvotes. I don't reply to those. It's been months since I got anything resembling engagement on this site.
I copy posts from my blog because Hive offers a way to sidestep censorship -- government AND corporate. The rewards are nice, but my circumstances require me to develop natively censorship-resistant platforms. Reaching out to a wider audience is a neat benefit too.
As for not caring what people think—if I did that, I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have in my real life.
Well I'm happy my comment is worthy of a response. I find engagement has to be worked for, but I can understand if you are busy elsewhere. I just think that given the tiny Hive audience that more rewards should go to those who are actively working to make it a better place.
I notice that your web site still links to Steemit, but I see you stopped posting there. I hope you will keep posting to Hive and that engagement will improve.
