RE: How To Avoid Becoming An ICO Idiot - The Ultimate ICO Investment Advice! - Part 1

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

My pleasure!

I had not heard of Appics before you mentioned, so I googled and visited their website and watched the video.

My bullshit alarm is tingling, and my main reasons are:

  1. If you've raised money in stages via an ICO, why hasn't any of that money gone on developing an actual site, kind of like um, let me see, Steemit.

  2. Why is the video music only showing repetitive images that don't really make any sense. Surely the video is an opportunity to explain EXACTLY WHAT IT IS.

OK, I was just about to write something else, and I thought let me look at the Whitepaper and I see that it is an SMT possibly? Not sure as it isn't clear immediately, again this sets of my alarm because it feels like they're trying to hide something.

They may or may not be bullshitters, however they can't explain in one or two sentences what the app is.

So yeah, that would not have been one that I invested in, however I will keep an eye on it.

You make a good point, that often techies are no good at marketing; I would add to that, and say that confused marketing, doesn't always point to scam, it often points to a poorly executed plan which is another reason to stay away.

Also, I don't really see the point of having another social media site using a different token, but still sitting on the Steem blockchain, maybe I'm wrong but I can't see why people would use that over Steem, or any of the other social Steem apps.
