As we all know that, Internet is full of social media platforms. There are numerous websites today, a person can use to connect with their loved ones sitting far across in other countries. These websites are free to use and one can use them for any amount of time as they want without paying anything in return. Now, people share even the minute details of their life on Social Media. Selfies and status updates are common like they were ever before. Social media has become an inseparable part of our life for sure.
But now the question is: Do we need this social media which we're using right now? Is this social media helping us in anyway like a social media should help a person? Are these social media platforms efficient?
I don't think they are helping us in any way apart from selling our personal data to the advertisers and earning huge money from them. In return they don't pay us anything in return, except sometime hacking and security issue arise for sure.
But now, a new social media platform is coming which would Focus on communities instead of individuals. This platform is named as PEERITY.
What Is Peerity?
Peerity would be a community based social media platform which would work on BlockChain Technology. Peerity would rewards it's users for their contribution in communities and in groups. Peerity has been set up on the mindset of helping the communities, not individual posting selfies and updating statuses. People who would contribute good content or good ideas to a community, would be rewarded.
What Set Of Users Can Use Peerity?
Well, the simple answer would be: EVERYONE. It doesn't matter in what field you're working, what status you have, what social media presence you have elsewhere. It would be for everyone.
Peerity would be a reliable platform for everyone whether you're a photographer trying to show your talent to the whole world, a blogger who has some incredible ideas to share with the rest of the world, a vlogger who create some great videos, a techie who love to inform people about technical stuff or a crypto enthusiast who wants to share his wisdom with everyone.
Peerity has been created for the purpose of sharing and helping different people with their work. For the contribution a user make for other people's work, Peerity rewards the said users with Peerity tokens.
How Peerity Is Different From Other Social Media Platforms?
The main problems with other social media platforms is that they sell your data to advertisement companies. If you have ever noticed, sometime try to visit a nearby famous shopping store with your device GPS open and a social media platform installed and logged in that device. When you would return to your home and open your social media account, you would certainly see the ads by sometime website of the same store you just visited a few hours ago.
So, that's how social media platforms earns money, by selling your personal habits and browsing pattern with advertisers.

Do all these services need to launch their own tokens? I mean what is the purpose?
The purpose is to reward to users. Without any token, how would anyone be rewarded on these platforms?

I see that it's different than steemit, but steemit wants to do communities too, so then?
And what if steemit moves to EOS based platform?
All these things take time, resources and engineers to manage; security issues are a HUGE ISSUE: best to move to a single platform that provides all needs to various applications. Just like iPhone, just like Android, etc.

I have made a post on Matchpool. Its a decentralized matchmaking platform which works uses group dynamics to match people. It's basically used for dating, but can also be used for a variety of purpose. Like matching people with product, communities, other people and lots more.

Seems like the blockchain is growing exponentially. There is another social media platform being organized for professionals... similar to a linkedin application. inc. magazine just ran an article mentioning Indorse - a new platform based on Ethereum, is creating a truly decentralized professional social network. On this platform, you own all your data and get paid directly for contributions. This solves the two major issues surrounding social networks.
Ah I just had this idea yesterday. Oh well haha, blockchain companies are popping up fast.

Hello @cryptonet, that was an informative article I must say. Never heard of this Peerity thing before your post. It sounds very similar to what STEEMIT is, if I am not mistaken. What would be its USP that would differentiate it from steemit platform?

Well, it doesn't focus on unnecessary articles or content like selfies or some plaigairised content. You have to join a group first and contribute your work in there to get some peerity rewards. So, the group dynamics would be at work there.

The idea is same but the method is different and more effective. Peeirty uses group dynamic and community contribution to help users to earn rewards. Not just posting on the individual website and earning through upvotes.
And it's 2 years behind Steemit, and it has no proven track record in security and hacks, and steemit will do same (Communities of some kind) by next year..
It remains to be seen if ANY new players can have traction in this space.
And then we ask ourselves, does this new token have any basis in value, upon a proven track record of any kind?
