Being vigilant is a must these days as much 'bad guys' are trying to trick you and stole your coins (money) leaving you in a financial loss and huge emotional stress which leads to worsening health, insomnia and disappointment in every activities you do bringing negative consequences to your falimy and all arround you.
Educate yourself before it happens
Before I offer you two solutions where to apply if you got scammed by exchange or fake cryptocurrency please be adviced, that you must:
- Always use a 2-FA authentification as a minimum possible security for your trading accounts.
- Try to hold all coins in a safe place, for example Ledger Nano Hardware Wallet
- Never trade in exchange which are not registered as official financial institution or does not provide any information of being legal authority.
- Never invest in a coin which does not have real/ongoing product and are not listed in at least one of these exchanges: Binance, Bittrex, Poloniex, KuCoin, Kraken, Bitfinex, GDAX, OKEx, Bitstamp, HitBTC, Bitfinex (Disclaimer: We do not say that other exchanges are worse, but these we mentioned are the most advanced and modern including safety of investors coins).
However, if it happened that that you got scammed...
You were scammed by some unfair exchange (for example you load your exchanges website and nothing works because 'we have database issues'; this is how I lost money in - coinsmarkets.com exchange. They are fixing database issue since January 5th, 2018 and Bitcointalk community are now investing their time to sue all coinsmarkets.com team. Yes, this is why I write this article, I lost my investment because of my immature investing in such exchanges). Or bougth a coin which finally was dumped hard because of possible ponzi driven scheme this is what you should do.
There is two places might acctually help you to increase priority of investigation after you submit an internet crime or unfair trading complaint. It will cause attention of justice institutions and leads to faster investigation of complaint. IC3 mission is to ensure positiveness and safety enviroment in online advertising, freeware, mobile apps and even virtual currency (many complaints reached their office lately).

By the way, in 2017th according to Internet Crime Complain Center report virtual currency reports are growing fast (despite the fact, that IC3 was mainly focused on telephone, online advertising, phishing email, pop-up messages and similar scams before).
In 2017th there was scam complaints for more than $15 000 000 in IC3 database only.
