According to news reports, online networking giant Cisco and blockchain startup SingularityNet are teaming up to develop applications that will leverage the power of decentralized Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
AGI is a more advanced branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that focuses on the computer system’s ability to learn an intellectual task, in comparison if AI is the process of computers learning to recognize characters in a page, an AGI system learns how to write a book.
Dr. Ben Goertzel, CEO at SingularityNet, states that the scale of AGI deployments needed by Cisco will be tremendous and they are making sure that their AGI tools and blockchain-based platform are up to the task.
Goertzel adds that this technology is expected to provide tremendous commercial benefit to whoever develops it as it can be applied to a broad range of industries such as advertising, medical research, computer networking or financial analytics.
