Privileged to have been a part of the first ever NEO blockchain Malaysia Community meet-up. Kudos to the organizers that made it possible and doing all of this voluntarily just to make this happen.
I went to the event with my brother which was held at MaGIC Cyberjaya so it took quite a journey to get there all the way from the other side of the city.
Itinerary started off with the first half hour doing registrations, networking and food. I don't know who sponsored the food but seriously thanks so much for filling our tummies and on a side note, I've been craving for some Domino's pizza 🍕 so that was HUGE bonus. I wasn't even expecting food so that was seriously a pleasant surprise and super generous.
After that we made our way to the main auditorium for the session. The host of the event was Harith Kamarul (HelloGold). He was really professional as he hosted the guests and speaker. His moderating and questions during the sofa interview was really good, with every minute spent being able to bring out the best of all the panel speakers.
Malcolm Lerider was the main speaker and invited guests from NEO Global Development. He mainly talked about what the NEO blockchain is all about and its vision of being a Smart Economy.
A lot of what was shared had Ethereum being compared to which I thought was really educational and informative on the differences between the two protocols.
Asides from that, 80% of what was talked was simply alien language to me as I'm not a developer of any sort and for the most part of blockchain tech, I'm the end user of it. Look at STEEMit for example... Hahaha
But having said that, I still mamaged to get some new things and will definitely be looking more into the NEO ecosystem and pay a closer attention to it than just being a trader and investor. The dApps being built on the NEO blockchain as well has been a real interest to me ever since I started investing in Red Pulse, the first one on the NEO blockchain.
One of the main things I got from the meet-up was that NEO want to be compliant and work with regulations instead of inventing a whole new economy like Ethereum. While I believe there is a place for both, I'm really excited that NEO is taking this approach working their way towards adoption.
So anyway I won't talk more on other things that were said as I myself am gonna start studying dBFT after tonight. You can keep yourself updated with the NEO community through their various social media platform outlets. Malcolm particularly mentioned a few times to join their Discord channel as it's the most active in terms of usage and you can get in touch with them really quick if you have questions.
