I saw the price of EOS was quite low few days ago and decided to buy some, but since we could buy directly from an exchange and from the EOS token distribution on their website, so i tried both. From the exchange is straightforward buy pay and receive.
For the Distribution i sent 0.1 ETH to the EOS distribution address, and was charged 0.00154 for gas. I received 28 EOS tokens, 0.05466ETH for gas when i claimed the token.
So total cost is (0.1562 * 320) /28 = $1.78514 , so more expensive than buying from the exchange due to gas cost.

I bought through the distribution and am storing in myetherwallet. I have registered an EOS public key to my ETH address. I presume now that I don't need to register again if I add further tokens after buying from an exchange?
I bought from exchange and then i bought from the distribution, and registered the key last. I think we don't need to register again, as the tokens i bought from exchange was also shown in EOS interface and added to the ones from distribution as 1 total

Maybe when the price is 4 dollars it's worth doing distribution way. But then there will be more people in the pool also

Hi starving, maybe if i bought more, might save the cost of gas and end up cheaper? not sure. But buying from exchanges seems like the safer option

hi blazing, some people wait till last minute of the distribution period and check . 2 million EOS are distributed daily, and they will be split equally according to the Ethers received. So price is 2000,000 / (ETH number*ether price) + gas charges. I think it's safer to buy at the exchanges

hi zoef, at the moment it seems better to buy from an exchange. But EOS hasn't launched their platform yet, so it's still speculation, but if successful it supposed to be very good
I have some EOS, not much, but used my Exodus Wallet to exchange using Shapeshift.io.

I will buy when it drops a bit during the ICO period and accumulate. Still speculative at this stage though, but that's where we get big gains
