Also helpful for security of your devices:
Use full disk encryption on your desktop/laptop. BitLocker is the native disk encryption or Windows and FileVault is the MacOS equivalent. This is especially important when traveling. I've witnessed two incidents this year in which airport travelers accidentally picked up the wrong laptop while going through security (most MacBooks look nearly identical).
Use encryption on your mobile device as well.
To save some headache down the road I also frequently create updated full system images with disk imaging software.
