Twitter Banning Cryptocurrency Ads, Bear Market For Bitcoin

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

CNBC on Mar 26 reported that twitter was banning crypto ads. This may not be good for the digital currency market, but it also is good for networks that do not centrally manufacture content for arbitrary values.

The article goes on to discuss how about a week ago on Monday, Bitcoin fell 7 percent below $8k. Searching google the price now is around $6.9k. So perhaps the non independence of steem to Bitcoin is a reason for steems contemporary lower values compared to the fall and winter.

The article asserts Bitcoin is down 42 percent from the $13k price at the beginning of 2018. Apparently google and facebook have also interfered in this market and the free exchange of ideas, for the stated goal to protect against fraud. The article discusses bitcoin price increasing during a G20 meeting, and how Italy's central banker may have endorsed not banning cryptos. The CNBC article also references another CNBC article from that week that Twitter CEO asserts:

"bitcoin will eventually be the single global currency"
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/25/bitcoin-will-eventually-be-the-single-global-currency-twitters-jack-dorsey.html It will be interesting how the market adjusts to crypto going more and more mainstream. Perhaps state bans and other regulations will turn the tide? Is it possible that the cat can go back into the bag and people will continue to use central bank printed fiat that is prone to inflation and money printing, or currencies that have a tied value to some commodity or code? Wonder what will be the our reality in 5 years?

Sort:

it's actually a battle between stocks and cryptocurrencies, a zero sum game, whoever wins which is a lose to other player.

idk about a a battle with stocks, but i suspect a battle with central bank printed fiats.

Twitter also bans people they don't agree with politically. It's not just crypto. They are communists.

yea very sad how they act, I'd be pretty ticked if I had their stock

Me just banned for a month for sharing a blog-message opposite to "official" media ... ok, Twitter, lets see who finally will live and who will drown ...

yea and sounds like the delisted wikileaks links during 2016 election

the only thing that helps is a new system. like Buckminster Fuller said

Twitter needs captchas like all the other social media because there are more bots than users. #twittercaptcha Seems they don't have to worry about their income 😥

they seem to help set up bots, twitter seems to be mostly bots

That does not make them communists. Authoritarian’s do the same thing just like capitalists. Censorship is a universal thing. I will agree that censorship is bad but I won’t agree because it’s bad they are communists. They are capitalists listening to other advertisers and other interests protecting their profits.

yea not sure, hopefully we will be free someday

I feel as though eventually if twitter wants to survive they will have to give in to cryptocurrency .... Crypto isnt going anywhere

Thank you for giving nice information

glad you liked it

Very informative, thanks for sharing. I've smashed the upvote button for you!

If you are looking to get hold of some crypto without investing or mining, look into https://www.crowdholding.com. They are a co-creation platform were you get rewarded for giving feedback to crypto startups on the platform. You can earn Crowdholding's token as well as DeepOnion, ITT, Smartcash and many other ERC-20 tokens.

cool interesting idea, thanks

I think its a good direction most ICO's use the funding to start a business when IPO's are already established businesses . A white paper is a just business plan. aside it will clear out all of the fake accounts - Http://satoshipapi

I'm selling http://satoshicash.io if anyone is interested

cool, good luck selling it,

do you think that the reason for twitter banning crypto is because they want to launch their own one
lol

yea I could see it, sounds like fb is considering that, i imagine they all will have to to prevent silencing voices, shadowbanning and for profit sharing to be more competitive

Why would they do that?

they claim to fight fraud

what's the reason behind that facebook and twitter everyone on Banning Cryptocurrency Ads?

supposedly to prevent fraud

Nice@

thanks, glad you found it to be nice

recommend making more meanignful comment to avoid downvoters

It’s part of the turmoil we need to go through

yea unfortunately it seems thats the direction the media oligarchs are taking

There are no gents without cents. Each company has its own policy to make profits. So each of their steps is for profit. In the economic system, everybody has the right to participate free of charge, they will always try to resist it.

yea, hopefully the market provides sufficient competition to keep such acts in check

We should ignore copyright laws, they're immoral and they limit the flow of ideas and artistic development

yea, not sure if IP really is valueable/justifiable in thtis day and age

its sad one cannot make bets on steemit: otherwise we could bet who will survive longer, Bitcoins or Twitter ....

yea, I don't know why one couldnt if there were a trusted intermediary escrow--other than the threat of state intervention

all is just a FUD

yea, hopefully we can still make and exchange value without government claws and coercion perverting all of human economic exchange

resistance is futile

Twitter, Google, Facebook bans are not the problem, it is a symptom. ICO market is one large problem at the moment. Too many ICOs, and too many of them will fail and too many are just scam. We all enjoy our pretty little Wild West here, but we need a change. I don't think ads ban will stom scam wave and i don't think this ban will be lifted before scam wave is stopped.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@cryptohumster/ico-in-a-wild-west-time-to-make-a-step-forward

yea i wonder if the voice silencing is really worth any fraud prevented

Its happening just because of ponzy ICOs. Anyways few days ago it was on the trending that Google banned ICO and crypto ads but I can still see ads of crypto during my surfing time.

I think google's intervention may not be fully deployed yet,

I honestly think it was a good idea. Because there are so much of those scam Crypto currency Mining websites who were putting ads all over every social medias.

government intervention is not the only means to police against fraud, I do not envision a role for the state here

Fuck the media. We don’t advertise for them on here. Good, draw a line in the sand and see where we are in 5 years. FUCK THEM ALL!

yep, hopefully we are free someday!!

It seems to me that unlike most people commenting, this is not a twitter or stocks vs. crypto battle but rather an attempt to try to protect twitter users from fraudulent ICOs, at least until there are other regulatory or safeguarding measures in place.

idk, that seems to be twitters official stance
