Hello Steemers from all over the Crypto Galaxy! I know there has been a ton said about Crypto Market Fluctuations and Hard Fork or Soft Fork and for a lot of us Steem is our introduction into the Cryptocurrency realm. We come to Steem because it has a unique community based on cryptocurrencies and Steems own place amongst them. But a lot of us are feeling left out of the conversation because we simply don't know enough to grasp the basic jargon floating around.
Community Effort
So I decided to write an honest post about terms that still confuse me and I believe confuse some of our Newest members as well and Am asking the Steemit Community to Stop by and provide their own understanding on these, It is my belief that for some of us it will be easier to understand these things and we will feel more at ease sharing with you once we understand how you all see things and understand them.
So here a list of terms and at least one subject that is the rage right now but is definitely confusing a lot of us.
1. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF AUGUST 1st THAT HAS US FEELING LIKE IT'S WRITTEN ON THE MAYAN CRYPTO CALENDAR
Seriously guys what is so significant about it that a lot of us are being told to either wait till then to invest or quickly invest before then because its our last chance! Like theres this huge Bitcoin Death Star approaching.

What is a Hard Fork and a Soft Fork?
What is Segwit?
What can we Newcomers look at to keep ourselves informed during these uncertain times?
Lastly I keep hearing about consensus, what will happen if Bitcoin does not reach consensus?
I believe this is enough to get us back onto our Millenium Steem Falcon and will give us enough to actually have a decent conversation or not feel like the odd men out.

Maybe if you're holding Bitcoin in an exchange. I wouldn't recommend having any actual bitcoin on August 1st. I'd also recommend having Bitconnect, to profit off the volatility.
