Yeah, you should always used a hardware wallet device with MEW, and verify on the device if the transaction goes to the right address.

If you do not yet have one, I recommend the Ledger Nano S. Best to order it from the company itself. You never know if people who resell it on Amazon, their own website etc have tampered with the device.
