Warning! KeepKey falsely advertises support for Ethereum, but only supports one token out of dozens, the Ether!

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Fair warning, dear cryptographic e-money enthusiasts! If you transfer Ethereum tokens like TenX PAY or Monaco to a KeepKey hardware wallet, they will disappear into a vast void of nothingness, never to be seen again.

The KeepKey hardware wallet advertises support for several different types of cryptocurrency, among them Ethereum (https://help.keepkey.com/using-keepkey/does-keepkey-support-alternative-cryptocurrencies-alt-coins), but the truth is that they only accept one of the many Ethereum tokens, the Ether token. Any other Ethereum token that you send towards your KeepKey will be lost in space. Don't do it!

Now, all of the other popular hardware wallets, and even some software wallets, do support the Ethereum tokens, but KeepKey is staggeringly lacking in this area. So much so that I can see a class action lawsuit on the horizon for a company that was just acquired by Shapeshift in an all-cash deal, yet continues to advertise that they support Ethereum and yet send 99% of Ethereum tokens straight into the internet's trash can with no warning because they weren't Ethereum's Ether tokens.

Beware!
