I love cryptocurrencies and I've had mostly only good experiences! However...
When Ethereum hit $410 USD, I sold off half of my wallet to Bitcoin. It took about 5 minutes. When I then traded back to ETH when it was at $350 USD it wouldn't exchange. I've now been waiting 6 hours for it to transfer as the ETH price continues to climb back up. I'm losing a ton of potential money as it nears $385 USD. I've been using ShapeShift by the way...
It's important that we in this market can sell high and buy low and not have to wait up to a day or more for the transfer to go through. This is incredibly risky for our money. When will it be fixed?

CoinBase went down today and I know it's been somewhat of a bloodbath in the crypto market so there are a lot of people buying and selling but this should not be an excuse. We have so many geniuses in this industry, can't we find a better way?
I truly hope more people get on this. Let's make this market more robust with convenient exchange time. This is the future and we should all be preparing for the future.

You need to get into bitshares. Steem, bitshares and sbd. There isn't even time for coffee before you hit the exchange.
I bought bitshares last week. I saw the bitshare platform where you can also get bitshare dollars. Is this a good place to keep your money so that you can invest in other alt coins easily?
I feel like I missed the boat for Bitshares. Tried to get into it weeks ago and couldn't find a wallet that took it. Ended up losing out HUGE
You have not lost anything by not playing :-) last time I looked you had plenty of steem. Good. I don't know what will happen next, maybe a breather, like normal. Then there are plenty of interesting opportunities. Lisk is one of them. I think they will follow Ethereum. Another more boring coin is factom. I'm also excited about maid and what they can accomplish. And then there is eos launching soon. Exciting times. Times to learn. And to have balls of steel.
Well I'm definitely not talking about STEEM. I'm talking about waiting on Ethereum. I'm losing a bunch of money due to the exchange wait time. It needs to get with the future and update to a faster wait time.
I see. Is it bitcoin-bad? I haven't transferred any in a while. But I thought of selling some first a week ago, then today when it almost crossed 0.15.
I'm a lazy trader :-)
yes, some of the wait times are ridiculous.
I finally got it but because of the rise in value of ETH and drop in the price of BTC I lost a few hundred dollars. Ridiculous. Never using ShapeShift again.
More likely the exchanges are gaming the system. They know the price is going up and if they halt transactions by putting up the "maintenance sign" they can make money for themselves.
The need for a decentralized exchange is obvious now more than ever.
I can't help but be reminded of this Louis CK bit.
Ive had to chase down Changelly for a month to complete my exchange. All these places are likely not totally ready for the upsurge in demand, and Im sure we'll see a few shut down. Part of the growing pains of the wild west
Agreed. This is a new frontier. I'm just losing the 8% gain I should have had waiting for this. Starting to worry me.
Coinbase today after purchasing some LTC, unreal,
"PENDING" Your digital currency will arrive by the end of day on Wednesday Jun 14, 2017. Created June 13, 2017 11:56 PDT
not only slow, but EXPENSIVE
That happened quite some time at Poloniex a month ago.
Huge pump and dump schemes. (e.g XRM & Bcn etc.)
And when the top was reached.. The entire site fez and it took 10 minutes before it worked again .... MANY people lost HUGE amounts during these few minutes .. Repeted a few times during 2 weeks.
I think its a class action law suit or investigation going on about that?!
My guess, its only gonna take one class action lawsuit somewhere, for the space to have a shitload of players disappear quickly
I think it was insider trading.
Since when the site was frozen ... "some" managed to sell as much that it tanked 10-15% before the rest of us could trade any.
