So I admit, when I was 16 years old, I bought those magazines, which claimed to have the written code of a game you could play, once you copied all lines from the paper to your computer. Obviously that didnt worked well, because if you only made one spelling mistake, the whole game wouldnt compile. Not having the patient to check 500 or 5000 lines of code for spelling mistakes, I gave up as a kid. However, I still have a vivid memory for this experience and at the age of 37, I dared to do something similar again.
I discovered http//:www.loom.io, a "next-generation blockchain platform for large-scale online games". I believe that blockchain games on a sidechain, like loom offers, could be a big thing this year. Mainly because you have your collectable on the Ethereum blockchain, so no one can take it from you and you can sell them, if you want. Just look at the hype around CryptoKitties (which sold to up to 250ETH).
Well one of the first dApps on the Loom Network is https://cryptozombies.io, a card game to grow your own Zombie army, battle other players Zombies and to eat CryptoKitties (!). That sounded really great, but Loom used this Zombie game to teach you in 6 lessons, how such a dApp is build in Solitidy. They explain everything really well and you have a real motivation, because with every lesson you are eager to try out the new functionalities you just programmed. Especially the part about how and why to interact with the Ethereumchain, smart contracts, and Gas are really interesting, because this is the core of Ethereum. You get a really good understand, what is so special about it and what the innovation is.
I got a lot more confident, that:
1. Smart Contracts, Blockchain and Ethereum is going to change the world
2. That Vitalik Buterin and his team of developers are really genius. To come up with Ethereum and its own programming language is really mind blowing.
3. It really isnt that hard to program, if you have a great learning resource

They even annouced to integrate Plasma and Plasma Cash, and I think they really know what they are doing. Check them out and make up your own mind.
