Coinbase announced yesterday the creation of Coinbase Ventures. According to Business Development Chief Emilie Choi, "At least in the beginning, our goal is simply to help the most compelling companies in the space to flourish. This means that we don’t have the strategic requirement of formalizing partner relationships with such companies, as some corporate venture programs do." They may even invest in companies that are their competition.
It's unclear at this point if startups have to be discovered by Coinbase or if there will be a way to submit your startup for approval. The comments under the blog post are already packed with hopeful startups trying to get Coinbase's attention.
According to Business Insider, Coinbase Vice President Dan Romero said, "We're trying to build a Google-like company for the cryptocurrency space." He also reportedly confirmed they are hiring more C-level executives. The company certainly has enough money for these changes. What startup(s) do you think deserve Coinbase's attention right now?
