Today is my niece's 5th birthday! Her name is Stella!
So I decided I would buy a different present. I decided I would buy her cryptos!
I used some of my Steemit earnings to buy her a hardware wallet (Nano Ledger S) and deposited 200 USD worth of ETH! Needless to say, she wasn't excited at all! After all she is just a kid! She was probably expecting candy or toys! She didn't even understand what it was I was giving her! But can you blame her? Even her parents know little to nothing about cryptocurrency.
So we had to have a long conversation to make sure they would get the necessary information about what I just bought her! They seemed enthusiastic and excited about cryptocurrency and kept wondering how they've been missing out on the entire thing. I made sure to urge them not to sell the amount of ETH I had just bought her, suggesting that it will be worth much more in the distant future and that it would be better if they just held on to it.
Her father was extremely excited and even declared interest to invest in cryptocurrency. After holding a long discussion about cryptocurrency, market tendencies and future potential, I made sure I let him know about Steemit and the possibilities it actually has to offer to users. He seemed interested but the conversation had already been going on for hours so I couldn't get my message across, their attention span had started decreasing. It's only natural though! The guy had previously only just heard of BTC and within a couple of hours he learnt lots of things about many different cryptos! Maybe next time I will force him to register to Steemit and make his first post, who knows?
Regarding my sweet niece, she is too young to join Steemit. She is probably too young to be holding ETH as well, but now she does! Isn't that cool? I keep imagining her preaching about smart contract technology to her peers at kindergarten. Hilarious!
That's probably not going to happen and she certainly hasn't realized yet! But still, I'm very pleased. I feel like I gifted her the best present ever. I will keep dropping cryptos on my family members for birthday presents or even opening Steemit accounts and handing them out for free.
