Thoughts on Lisk Cryptocurrency in 2018 | What do you think?!

What is Lisk?

With the main goal of making blockchain development easily accessible, Lisk was forked and brought in existence by Max Kordex and Oliver Beddows in May of 2016

Like most things we talk about here lisk is an open source blockchain platform with is powered by Lisk or LSK tokens that allows developers code decentralised applications also known as dApps in the programming language JavaScript.

This is the same programming language as NEO and it is the most popular programming language.

With LISK developers can build applications on their sidechain linked to the LISK network as well as their custom token.

In this lisk could be considered similar to the Ethereum blockchain. However, the lisk platform wasn’t built to create smart contracts, but to develop diverse apps and functionalities using the LISK appSDK framework.

With the lisk app SDK, developers can develop both front end and backend applications.

They can also build functionalities for their apps and user interfaces with the link app SDK.

This allows developers to create blockchain apps conveniently in a downloadable package. The front end of these apps can be accessed in a decentralised way, which is a unique feature in the blockchain industry at this point in time.

What Makes Lisk Unique?

There are loads of developers toolkits and blockchain platforms out there, competing for market share. There is no doubt in my mind that most of them will fail, not because the idea of blockchain isn’t valid. It is simply because of all the competition, and don’t get me started on all the scams.

Lisk hopes to be different enough with its accessibility by its software development kit which is written using Javascript. Developers are also able to focus on user experience, unlike most other platforms.

The mainchain provides security and stability. And the side chains facilitate unlimited flexibility. Lisk offers developers a place to create their own blockchain network, that is under their full control.

Developers are also given the ability to create their network in the form of a side chain without having to spend much time and effort on building a blockchain entirely from the ground up. Lisk makes this process much faster.

How Can The Lisk SDK App Be Used?

The possibilities of using the SDK (software development kit) are said to be limitless. It will be possible to develop decentralised social networks, as well as games, messengers and all other platform independent apps.

The best part for the developers is that they will have no hassle of following peer to peer network protocols or developing consensus algorithms.

How To Get Started With Lisk?

If you want to make use of LISK and all its capabilities, you have to start by creating an account and downloading the lisk wallet. I will link to this in the description. (https://lisk.io/products)

After that you want to launch the application. After these steps you have to get some LSK tokens, which can be bought on various cryptocurrency exchanges and I will talk about those in a second.

These tokens are necessary for every action completed on the Lisk platform. So it is important to have them if you want to work with the platform.

Now you can customise most of the features on your account however you like them, including the option to have added security, which I always recommend.

You are now ready to explore the tools in the LISK Blockchain Explorer. For the most important Lisk News and Updates from the community check out Lisk Magazine, Also linked in the description. (https://www.liskmagazine.com)(https://lisk.io/products)

Decentralized Application Development on Lisk

Dapps include packages of front and back ends. A smart contract, however, is just a backend process. In other words, developing a Decentralised app on smart contracts would mean that you have to rely on third party systems for the front end.

The Lisk team state to makes it easier and more fun for newbies and professionals to quickly understand the Lisk platform with clear documentation on how to send and receive LSK, download the apps etc without being too technical about it.

Setting Up A Wallet For Lisk

Other than holding Lisk on exchanges, The Lisk Nano is the official wallet for LSK tokens.

It allows users to receive and send transactions on the lisk network. On top of that it provides a simple UI for more advanced features like the delegate voting or registering a second passphrase.

With the lisk nano, blockchain synch isn’t required because the wallet connects with the official Lisk node hosted by Lisk foundation.

How to purchase Lisk

Lisk is listed on a number of exchanges, exchanges like bittrex, poloniex and binance allow their clients to purchase lisk.

If you have been following this channel for a while now, you will know that my recommended wallet is Binance. After signing up for a binance account with the link in the description you will be blown away by its low fees and awesome community contests and much more.

The team behind Lisk

If you want to know more about the team behind this project make sure to check it out on their site.

One notable thing about the foundation is that in the spirit of focusing on decentralisation, the lisk foundation works with contractors from all over the world, locations ranging from New York, Berlin to Zug. Its core team is based in Berlin.
