Here are a few ways to get some BTCGold during the hard fork. For one I know that Binance exchange will support the fork and you don't need to do much, simply leave or deposit your BTC in the exchange. If your gonna deposit it, make sure to do well before prior to the fork. 2 or 3 days before to be sure. Now some would recommend not to leave your funds in an exchange during a hard fork but so far Binance has proven to be a prestigious crypto currency exchange.
If you ask me, I'd rather protect my private key myself on an external hardware wallet. The ledger nano S or trezor hardware wallet will also support the fork just like they did with bitcoin cash. Simply leave your BTC on them and wait until the dust settles. In my opinion, this would be your safest bet.
Other ways to acquire it is by having your BTC stashed on a paper wallet where again you own your private key. This method is a bit more technical but if you have a hardware wallet this would be the way to go. Some say you can just leave your BTC on online wallets like Coinomi, Jaxx, Mycelium and Exodus, but I personally wouldn't recommend it.
That's it guys, now we just await October 25th and see what happens. Whether you want bitcoin gold is up to you but in the end I would say getting some free crypto is not too bad at all.
