Crypto isn't everything, and id agree that most of the current use cases are nonsense. Shit like cryptokitties has no future.
However I disagree with your argument, blockchain directly addresses problems around governance, budgeting in social systems, censorship in media and historical documents, centralized monetary policy.
These issues aren't minor niche solutions, but hugely effect the base of culture.
Yeah 10persons control the medias of the whole world. This guy has no idea what he is talking about. Freedom is out most valuable right.
Notice how your argument is a political one and not a technological one. Same argument can be made about capitalism. 99% want more "equality" yet they vote democratically and accept something that does not favour them.
The answer is within human nature, not what people need.
Not really, im talking about increasing efficiency in systems by reducing the ability to corrupt. Corruption is expensive, its a fat tax. You can compare it to an electrical system where bad actors are latching on along the line and siphoning electricity away, adding resistance. Crypto creates a new layer of shielding on the wire reducing the resistance, allowing the power to flow where its intended.
Crypto has so much gravity due to its efficiency in reducing corruption if for no other reason. Does this mean bitcoin is worth $1000000? Fuck no. But user owned, automated censor-proof networks are here to stay and will continue to grow like a virus. the broad use of these tools are inevitable.
Edit: Also to respond more directly to your edit, people vote "democratically" yet all over the world voting systems are rigged and manipulated. This is exactly what im talking about, user owned crypto networks provide solutions to create voting systems that cannot be rigged.
