Power Ledger vs WePower

There’s been a lot of chat in the crypto space lately about tokenisation of the energy sector, with Power Ledger leading the way as an early adopter of blockchain technology to revolutionise the way we consume energy.

Since their ICO in Q3 2017, Power Ledger has grown significantly as a number of positive announcements, including recently being named as one of three winners of the Extreme Tech Challenge 2018, have seen demand for the POWR token surge.

Off the back of this success, WePower’s upcoming ICO is drawing a huge amount of hype and interest because, like Power Ledger, WePower plans to use blockchain technology to innovate the way we consume renewable energy.

So what’s the difference between Power Ledger and WePower?

Power Ledger provides a peer-to-peer trading platform for micro-grids, for people to sell their own excess energy from their renewable energy sources on a market place that provides energy buyers with cheaper renewable energy. In addition to underpinning the Power Ledger energy trading platform, the POWR token will also allow people to obtain equity in future renewable energy assets (e.g. solar power plants or wind farms).

WePower is focused on funding new renewable energy assets. The WePower platform will assist in crowdsourcing capital for new renewable energy assets by allowing energy providers to sell their future energy at a discounted price before the asset is actually constructed. The capital raised by doing so will be used to fund the construction of the energy asset. Those who buy this discounted energy can either trade it before/during construction on the WePower platform, or can consume the discounted energy once the asset is complete and providing power.

Both projects are innovating the way we build renewable energy assets and provide cheaper renewable energy that can compete with dirty energy in markets where that dirty energy is currently cheaper.

Both projects are awesome and the crypto community should get behind both.

They are both helping build a better world, one that addresses the real challenges of climate change and energy security.

Check out both projects and get involved.

Bought power ledger 2 weeks back. Waiting for Wepower. These two will be disruptive in Power sector. Wepower has already started promotion on social media through video. Promotional vides looks veru promising. Wepower will be become ico than power ledger. Because who has bought power ledger will also buy wepower heavily initially. And top up with new entrants.. look out for a great start in wepowr.

Thanks for the comparitive post.

Completely agree. It's impossible not to love these projects. They offer a new future for our energy sectors, with short term and long term rewards for investors. Resteem to get the love out there!

Resteem done. With an Upvote. @Surryhillsteemer This was my first ever Resteem. And Today's my First Upvote for you.

I also like both projects. Holding #POWR ledger and wait for 01. Feb. to be able to get my hands on #WePower, too. I really like the idea of both and am curious to see how they develop. News of WePower have been very promising, especially as they have been closing the #token sale far earlier than planned.

An amazing concept. The way of the future. KWHcoin is also launching a similar concept. Very attractive.

I just missed the boat on WePower, I started reading up on it just a couple of days after the token sale. I'm really hoping to be able to get my hands on some WePower tokens at some point, although I don't know how now! I've seen the names ReNu and Restart Energy cropping up that look like they are in a similar vein to WePower and Power Ledger. It's brilliant that there seems to be such a growing interest in the decentralisation of energy.

I assume the WPR tokens will be listed on exchanges in the near future, so those of us who missed out can get in then.

WPR is on Idex blockchain exchange. Very easy to join, and then send ETH to your main wallet (address found via your account icon). You need to send US $150 plus enough to cover fees, as the minimum order is that. Then transfer the ETH to your Idex Trade Account wallet (leaving some in your main wallet to cover fees) and you are away. This is a centralised exchange that lets you trade in real time, putting it all on the decentralised blockchain in due course ... so your ETH is available within seconds.

Great! It happened :)
Here is the Announcement! ;-)
KuCoin listed WePower
