A Bitcoin talk I went to: "When Bitcoin Takes over the World"

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Yesterday evening I went to a talk which one of the speakers started his speech or talk with

"The small boy over there in the crowd, in 20 years he will ask his parents what a Dollar was? What a pound was?"

This set the precedent, it was clear that every speaker was a passionate advocate for not only blockchain the technology, but Cryptocurrencies as an ecosystem itself. The talk consisted of various people giving insights into Cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin in particular. One Speaker forecasted that if Bitcoin chipped away at only 5% of Golds market cap, which is $7 trillion dollars, it would 5 x in price- meaning it would be worth around $25,000! That would be incredible, but its quite far in the future.

Below you can very vaguely make out quite a cool graphic which was on one of the slideshows, where a lot of quite well known cryptos were displayed and grouped in certain ways which I found very interesting!

One speaker (see picture below) was from a soon to ICO company called Simplecoin, which in simple terms are kind of a ICO accelerator who help potential ICO's format their business model and company properly before they actually have a tradeable token.

He made some very interesting insights into the crypto world in general as well, he said two of the following things which I found thought provoking

1. If we compare the crypto world/blockchain to the dot com boom as a timeline, we are technologically at the beginning in 1993, and hype wise we are in 1998

2. There are only 16 million worldwide individual wallets/addresses, compare this to 3.3 billion internet users and over 2.1 billion Facebook users!

To conclude, this talk was great and I learnt a lot about Blockchain in general. Simplecoin seems a very compelling and complex company with some really good people behind it- so I will definitely do some more research into it!

Thanks for reading!
