I'm pretty sure you've heard about AntShares (if not, then check out some other posts like this one for example https://steemit.com/antshares/@abhi3700/antshares-neo-an-ethereum-competitor or check out their website http://neo.org/ (they changed their name recently).
This post is not to familiarize people with AntShares, it's purpose is to notify ANS holders of their possibilities.
I've written this, as I've come across many discussions, where it became apparent, that lots of HODLers don't know this, but -
BY HOLDING ANTSHARES YOU ARE ENTITLED TO DIVIDENDS IN THE FORM OF ANTCOINS, WHICH YOU WILL GET PAYED OUT ONLY IF YOU STORE YOUR ANTSHARES IN THE WALLET! (NOT AT THE EXCHANGE)
"OMG?!! I didn't know this?! I'm gonna move them right away!"
Wait a sec.
There is a small catch though.
If you are a westerner you most likely have your ants stored on Bittrex exchange, as they are at the moment the sole provider of ants in the west. And they are charging a ridiculous fee for transferring ants from their exchange to other addresses, that being - 1 ANS ! Well, might not be a lot for sb. might be a lot for sb. else, but surely might become a lot in future for everyone.
(edited - supposedly, they have lowered it to 0.5 ANS, though you must be aware, that you cannot own a part of a share, and it gets rounded down, so... )
So probably it might be a wise decision to move your ants to your wallet nowish, as the price of ANS might rise sooner than some competing exchange adds them to their portfolio with perhaps different fees. MIght not happen, maybe Polo or whoever adds ANS and charges no such fee to steal the Bittrex's customers, but it's hard to anticipate what will happen first.
Either way, I am sure you don't want to end up having your colony stuck on an exchange, cringing at the thought of transferring them for 1 ANS as the price might not be +- 10$ like now, but let's say 50$? 100$? who knows??
