The reason for that is simple. That's how the market is right now. There is currently not enough demand to buy steem compared to supply of it, so if the seller wants to sell it's coins he is forced to sell it on (slightly) lower price.

Maybe you should not look at dollar value at all, but just look at the volume of your SP/STEEM/SBD. You will feel better! If (or when) the price is up again, you can sell the coins.
