Fidelity has received over $100 million in cryptocurrency donations since 2015

As it follows from the document, last year the volume of cryptocurrency donations sent to the company has fallen. In 2017, cryptocurrencies turned out to be the fastest-growing asset class among those accepted by Fidelity - the amount of donations to them exceeded $69 million. However, in 2018 the value was only $30 million.

According to Amy Pirotszolo, the head of Fidelity Charitable's marketing division, people are less inclined to donate cryptocurrencies for charitable purposes when their prices fall. This is due to the reduction of tax benefits, which can be claimed by donors.

In a publication Fidelity Charitable also officially confirmed that it is beginning to accept XRP cryptocurrency. Initially, information about this was published in Twitter company in May.

"Most of the donations to date have been sent in Bitcoin, but we are also seeing an increase in donations to Ethereum," the company spokesman said. In addition, Fidelity Charitable works with Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin.

While the scale of cryptocurrency donations has decreased in recent months, Pirotszolo says that most of them are traditionally in the second half of the year.
