We decked ours out with funny millennial sayings perfect for Galentine’s Day or for Single Awareness Day (February 15th folks, mark your calendars!). These are great because they are completely customizable, so you can say whatever you like! All you need is a sash, some blue eyeshadow, and a side pony and you’re ready to party! Read on to see how to make your own!

Materials Needed: 4” satin ribbon, stiff felt, packing tape, scissors, Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue, pins

Step 1: Type out the phrase you want on the sash and size it up to fit on the ribbon. Our letters were roughly 2” tall. Print out the phrase.

Step 2: Secure the letters to a piece of felt with packing tape. This will help keep the design in place and makes it easier to cut out the letters.

Step 3: Carefully cut out the letters with scissors. You can use an x-acto knife for the interior of the letters if you like.

Step 4: Cut a length of ribbon long enough to make a sash, using the user for reference. Trim the ends to points for a more finished look.

Step 5: Fold the ribbon in half. Center and glue the letters to the sash with Aleene’s and let dry completely.

Step 6: Put on the sash and use pins to secure!

80’s Prom Balloon Pillars

Okay, to be honest, my prom was not in the 80’s. But I always wished it was! I would have been brimming with glee to douse my hair with obscene quantities of hairspray, throw on some shoulder pads, and dance the night away to the likes of Duran Duran or Wang Chung. Alas, I cannot travel back in time, so our team decided to bring our own 80’s prom party into 2018! We made these nostalgic balloon columns that are perfect for a party backdrop for a Galentine’s Day party! Read on to see how to make your own! (Psst… for more 80’s prom madness, check out our post tomorrow! Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!)

Materials Needed: 11” balloons (in 4 colors), hand balloon pump, balloon column stand kit curling ribbon, scissors

Step 1: Inflate four 11” balloons until they are roughly 7” and knot.

Step 2: Tie two sets of two balloons of different colors together. Twist two sets of balloons together to form a cluster.

Step 3: Wrap the end of the ribbon in a figure-8 formation around each balloon knot in a cluster. Repeat a bunch of times. This will be the base of the balloon column.

Step 4: Place another balloon cluster on top of the wrapped balloon cluster and push down. This will minimize the space between the balloons. Rotate the cluster so that each color creates a spiral when stacked together. Wrap the ribbon in a figure-8 around two balloons in this set.

Step 5: Repeat for the remaining clusters. We used 12 clusters for each column. When you reach the last cluster, wrap the ribbon a bunch of times around the balloons as you did for first cluster.

Step 6: Fill up the balloon column bases with water.

Step 7: Assemble the PVC sticks and connectors to form one long rod. Lay the PVC rod on top of the balloon column and carefully push it down to the center of the balloon clusters, where the balloon knots are. The PVC rod should no longer be visible. Repeat for the other column.

Step 8: Stick the end of the PVC rod into the balloon column stand. Trim off any excess ribbon and you’re done!

Cheeseboard for the Big Game

Who’s ready for game day?! I’m not going to lie, my favorite part of getting together to watch football is the snacks! There’s something so relaxing about kicking back, enjoying a game, and munching on delicious bites. Today, we’re excited to partner with Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps® to show you how to create one of our favorite party hacks: the cheeseboard! We even made a little video to show you how it’s done. Scroll through to check it out!

Cheeseboard for the Big Game | Oh Happy Day!

The key to a good cheeseboard is to have a variety of flavors and texture. Add sweet, salty, crunchy, and creamy. To start, we chose a few good cheeses that are hard, semisoft, and soft. We’ve found that pre-cutting some of the cheese makes for easier snacking! For crackers, we like using Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps® because they’re light, flavorful, and are perfect for dipping and piling on toppings. The flavor is neutral enough that they can pair well with anything!

To customize your cheeseboard for game day, we like adding some of our game-watching favorites like guacamole and hummus that can be mixed in with the rest of the plate. You could also add queso or bean dip if that’s your jam. Pile on fresh fruits and veggies, meats, and dried fruit and nuts to add a nice mix and round out your board. Finish off with a little bit of greenery as a garnish and you’re good to go! No matter how your team does, at least your game snacks will be #winning!
