After having some unexpected results from breeding kitties based on visual traits, I've understood that deeper knowledge is required in order to make more informed breeding choices. In the past several days I have been looking deeper into the CryptoKitties genome and trying to figure out how it all works. I am not going to go into too many details here, I will write a separate post on this subject. Basically, aside from the visual traits, each kitty posses hidden traits. The traits that you can see are generally the most powerful ones, but there is a lot going on behind the scenes and if you are not looking you can end up with some very unexpected results.
To test what I've learned I went on and mixed up some kitties, which I would've probably never combined based purely on visual traits.
The goal of the first pair was to get a NorwegianForrest Jaguar kitty with a nice colour combination.

Although there is still a lot of randomness and chance it definitely pays off to know more about the genome. The results can still be surprising, but at least they are somewhat explainable. When mating kitties with strong genes you can predict the outcome with a really high certainty.
